and Mahone Bay"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>There are three iconic scenes of Nova Scotia, three things people associate with the province. \u00c2\u00a0Peggy&#8217;s Cove which I discussed earlier, \u00c2\u00a0the Bluenose II Schooner and the church steeples of Mahone Bay. \u00c2\u00a0The Bluenose later, here is a view of Mahone Bay.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" replace the original Bluenose which at one time symbolized Nova Scotia&#8217;s prominence in the ship building and fishing industries.. \u00c2\u00a0The Bluenose II was gifted \u00c2\u00a0to the Province of Nova Scotia by the Oland Brewery\u00c2\u00a0in 1971. \u00c2\u00a0Here is a link to some of the history of the Bluenose.\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/bluenose.novascotia.ca\/history\">http:\/\/bluenose.novascotia.ca\/history<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 The Bluenose II is currently being rebuilt in Lunenburg.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" 200<\/span>\u00c2\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The curved metal beams over the Bluenose were part of the shell or building which covered the vessel while the hull was being rebuilt. \u00c2\u00a0The shipbuilders lifted the superstructure off the boat and then scrapped and rebuilt the hull. \u00c2\u00a0The building was being removed the day we were there.<\/p>\n<p>Lunenburg is an interesting old fishing and shipbuilding community. \u00c2\u00a0Here is a link to some information about the town. \u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.explorelunenburg.ca\/\">http:\/\/www.explorelunenburg.ca\/<\/a><\/p>\n<p>There is a rebirth of the shipbuilding industry in Lunenburg, as evidenced in part by the rebuilding of the Bluenose II. \u00c2\u00a0One small outfit was building dories by hand, the old-fashioned way. \u00c2\u00a0What&#8217;s a dory you ask?\u00c2\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dory\">http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Dory<\/a>\u00c2\u00a0 This firm has been building dories for quite a while. \u00c2\u00a0<a
