{"id":489,"date":"2012-07-13T05:57:34","date_gmt":"2012-07-13T12:57:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/?p=489"},"modified":"2012-07-13T09:02:57","modified_gmt":"2012-07-13T16:02:57","slug":"old-cars-and-peek-a-boo-girls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/?p=489","title":{"rendered":"Old Cars and Peek-a-Boo Girls"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>During my recent visit to Chicago, my brother-in-law, Don Jones, and I drove up to Volo, Il., to visit an antique auto museum. \u00c2\u00a0This place has four warehouses full of antique restored cars, all for sale.  Don had to restrain me from buying my favorite, a 1970 Ford Mustang Boss 429. \u00c2\u00a0Priced at a mere $209,998. \u00c2\u00a0I decided I would buy lunch instead. \u00c2\u00a0Actually, we had visited the museum a couple of years before, and both remarked that the prices, Boss 429 not withstanding, have come down. \u00c2\u00a0One of my other favorites, on of the most successful cars of all t ime, the Edsel Villager.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"edsel villager.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/edsel-villager1.jpg\" alt=\"Edsel villager\" width=\"300\" height=\"148\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>That car was about 100 yards long. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There happened to be a car show going on outside the museum that Saturday, with a country band and all kinds of creatures, umm, people running around. \u00c2\u00a0The owner of Dragula, a car used in the classic Munster movies, was on site with a couple of actors, Frankenstein and Dracula. \u00c2\u00a0Giving a talk about the show and cars, posing for pictures with folks and signing autographs. \u00c2\u00a0Batman was there also with his car. \u00c2\u00a0This young man approached me very proud of his autograph. \u00c2\u00a0He said that it was special because he built the model of the Batmobile and got it autographed for $10. \u00c2\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"batman autograph.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/batman-autograph1.jpg\" alt=\"Batman autograph\" width=\"198\" height=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Dragula was adorned by this young lady, which certainly was an improvement.<\/p>\n<p>.<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"dragula and girl.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/dragula-and-girl1.jpg\" alt=\"Dragula and girl\" width=\"205\" height=\"300\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A lot of body art was on display. I guess you could call it that.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"body art.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/body-art.jpg\" alt=\"Body art\" width=\"600\" height=\"258\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The highpoint of the morning was the Peek-A-Boo Pinup Girls. \u00c2\u00a0These girls put out a calendar, proceeds going to their charity, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.northpointeresources.org\/\">Northpointe Resources<\/a>. \u00c2\u00a0And they had a good time dancing and gyrating to the band.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"hulahoop.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/hulahoop.jpg\" alt=\"Hulahoop\" width=\"298\" height=\"450\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"peeakboo 2.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/peeakboo-2.jpg\" alt=\"Peeakboo 2\" width=\"310\" height=\"450\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"peekaboo 1.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/peekaboo-1.jpg\" alt=\"Peekaboo 1\" width=\"298\" height=\"450\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>A last photo to end this non-too-exciting post, I didn&#8217;t know God made blue hair.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"blue hair.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travelswithwesley.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/blue-hair.jpg\" alt=\"Blue hair\" width=\"450\" height=\"325\" border=\"0\" \/><\/p>\n<p>But then I&#8217;m old-fashioned and poorly informed, I suppose.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>During my recent visit to Chicago, my brother-in-law, Don Jones, and I drove up to Volo, Il., to visit an antique auto museum. \u00c2\u00a0This place has four warehouses full of antique restored cars, all for sale.
